Courses will consist of multimedia lectures which can be accessed from the Project BIO Web site 24 hours a day. The text and image portion of the lectures will be delivered in HTML format and can be accessed from a Web browser (example: Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer). The audio portion will be delivered using RealAudio software and will be accessed through hypertext links in the lecture Web pages. Students will be able to ask questions and participate in class discussions through interactive Web pages on a program called ClassNet. Exams will also be given using ClassNet. Courses may also incorporate active learning experiences.
You lost me, what is RealAudio?

If you are on the ISU campus there are several computer labs that have the capabilities you need. But you must have headphones so that you don't disturb others in the lab. If you can't go to an ISU lab or you want to use a computer when the lab is not open you must have this equipment and software.
First, you can see what a lecture will look like by going to our Lecture Explanation page. But, the best way for you to get a feeling for a course is to look at the sample lectures, which are available from most course homepages. Lectures are password protected by username and password, but we have made the first lecture of all courses available to anyone. For all sample lectures you must have a browser which supports frames, and for Gen308/508 your browser must support plug-ins. Remember, if you want to hear the audio you must have RealAudio software on the computer you're using. For some, downloading software from the Internet is confusing and viewing the sample lecture without audio will still give you a good feeling for the course.
Oops, I don't have a browser that supports frames or plug-ins.
Ok, I'm REALLY interested in getting RealAudio now.
If you can't get RealAudio to work, contact Doug Bull at ddbull@iastate.edu or 1-515-294-7255
