The development and implementation of laboratory exercises suitable for inclusion in high school biology courses. Exercises are built around common organisms and ecosystems in Iowa. Field trips.
Observations and experiments in development, behavior, and general biology of invertebrates. Special emphasis is placed on the biology of locally collected organisms and associated activities that could be incorpated into high school biology curricula. Results of experiments and observations are video taped for later use by participants in their classrooms. Numerous field trips to local areas are taken. Written materials are provided. There is no textbook.
To stimulate discussion of biological laboratory exercises by past participants in the above course. Also to encourage other teachers to participate in these discussions.
