Acer rubrum (Red maple): Flowers
		This species is one of the first to flower in spring, producing bisexual flowers or male and female flowers on separate branches of the same tree long before the leaves appear. The small, red flowers have 5 short petals and are produced on slender stalks in clusters on young branchlets.
